In Memorial

Jeanette C. (Aucoin) Despelteau of Poulin Drive, Quinebaug, CT died Wednesday, December 6, 2006 after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Fernand J. Despelteau who died in 1990.  Born in 1919, she was the daughter of the late Ovide and Rose (Touchette) Aucoin.

Mrs. Despelteau worked for Cargil Trust and Hartford National Banks. She was the first woman to become a Bank Manager in the State of Connecticut in 1968.  She was a Bank Manager until she retired at the age of 70.  She also was a former Tax Collector for the Town of Thompson.

Mrs. Despelteau was a very caring and giving person who enjoyed helping others. Her wisdom, knowledge and strength was an inspiration to us all.  She was truly an extraordinary individual who we will all sadly miss.

Jeanette enjoyed watching Red Sox and Celtic games, going to craft classes, sewing, playing cards, and mostly giving to her family and friends her love and support.

She is survived by her beloved son, John B. Despelteau and daughter-in-law and close friend, Debra Despelteau of Woodstock, CT; a brother, Raymond W. Aucoin of Danielson, CT; her god-child and close friend, Robyn Leo; and her two special friends, Hannah and Hallie Leo, all of Thompson, CT.

Jeanette’s Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, December 9, 2006 at 11:00 am in St. Joseph Church, Main St., N. Grosvenordale, CT. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.  Visiting Hours are respectfully omitted.  Her family requests in lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to the Knights of Columbus Council – #2087, 1017 Riverside Dr., N. Grosvenordale, CT 06255.  The Valade Funeral Home is entrusted with her arrangements.
