
Irene B. Duquette
1920 – 2011
Quinebaug– Irene B. Duquette, 91, formerly of Walker Drive, died Friday December 23, 2011 in Westview Health Care in Dayville. Born in Thompson, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Eva (Bergeron) Duquette.
Miss Duquette graduated from Tourtellotte Memorial High School and attended the New England Conservatory and Berklee School of Music in Boston. She was a veteran of WWII serving in the Women’s Army Corp and worked in Washington D.C during the Korean War. She worked at the former Grosvenordale Co., and Cluett Peobody Company in North Grosvenordale. She also worked as a secretary for the American Optical Corporation in Southbridge, MA for 35 years until her retirement in 1982.
Irene’s deepest love was playing the piano.
Irene was a member of the Saint Stephen Women’s Guild, the Quarter Century Club of the American Optical Company, and the Amateur Organ Association International.
Irene is survived by her cousins; her caretakers, Leo and Shirley Demers; and several close friends.

Irene will always be remembered as an exceptional person, blessed with an extensive assortment of commendable attributes. She was congenial, devout, honorable, perceptive, astute, quiet and reserved. She was a “lady” in the true sense of the word.
