1929 – 2011 

North Grosvenordale –Irene (Popowicz) Salkiewicz, 81, of Brickyard Road, died Thursday, February 3, 2011 in Day Kimball Hospital.  She was the loving wife of Edward Salkiewicz.  Born in Worcester, MA, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Katherine (Menko) Popowicz. 

Mrs. Salkiewicz was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, and most of all spending time with her family. 

In addition to her husband, Irene is survived by her sons, Edward P. Salkiewicz of North Grosvenordale, and Joseph P. Salkiewicz of North Grosvenordale, and John Salkiewicz of North Grosvenordale; her daughter, Katherine A. Kimball of St. Albans, ME; and her grandchildren, Nicholas E. Salkiewicz, Ethan E. Salkiewicz, Douglas Kimball, Audrey Kimball, and Alaina R. Salkiewicz.  She was the last of her ten siblings. 

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Irene’s family from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm, Sunday, February 6, 2011 in the Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., N. Grosvenordale CT.  A gathering will begin at10:00 am on Monday, February 7, 2011, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. Joseph Church, 20 Main St., N.
