Eastford – Howard “Stubby” Newth, 72, of Eastford Rd., died Tuesday, April 12, 2011 unexpectedly of cancer.  He was the loving husband of Gloria Newth.  Born in Putnam, he was the son of the late Earl Newth, Sr. and Sara (Thorton) Newth. 

Mr. Newth was a veteran of the Army during the Vietnam Conflict and worked as a heavy equipment operator at King Trucking for many years.  He enjoyed following Nascar and loved working out in his yard.  He especially loved his three dogs, Ricky, Rockie, and Dozer. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Howard E. Newth, Jr. and his wife Gina of Eastford; his daughter, Barbara Cote and her husband Joe of Westford, CT; his brothers, Frank Newth of CA, and Earl Newth, Jr. of VA; his sisters Earline Williams of Austrailia, and Betty Kowalski of Eastford; and his granddaughter Jessica Badger.  

He was predeceased by his sisters, the late Peggy Spink and Bobbi Newth. 

As requested by Howard and his family, services will be private.  Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Eastford Fire Department, 6 Westford Road, Eastford, CT 06242.  Gilman Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.  For a memorial guestbook visit www.GilmanAndValade.com
