Dayville – Henry S. Benoit, 81, of North Road, died Monday, October 25, 2010 at Matulaitis Nursing Home.  He was the loving husband of Dorothy (Long) Benoit.  Born in Putnam, he was the son of the late Eusebe and Marie (Palady) Benoit.

Mr. Benoit served the United States Army during the Korean War where he trained as a paratrooper.  He worked as a well driller for LaFramboise Well Drilling for 45 years retiring in 2008.  Henry felt great loss when his son Stephen died unexpectedly in 1979.

In addition to his wife, Henry is survived by his daughters, Darlene Barber of Dayville, and Danielle Ennis of E. Killingly; his sister June Bubb of Florida, 8 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his son, Stephen Benoit in 1979; four brothers, Leodore Benoit, Rene Benoit, Albert Benoit and Arthur Benoit; and three sisters, Theresa Bernard, Mary Perelli and Helen Mayo.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Henry’s family from 10:30 am to 11:00 am, on Friday, October 29, 2010, in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam.  A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am in the funeral home followed by burial with Military Honors in West Thompson Cemetery.  To express your sympathy visit his memorial guestbook at www.GilmanAndValade.com
