1929 – 2017

Danielson – Henry Mayotte, 87, formerly of Peckham Lane, died Friday, October 20, 2017 in Day Kimball Hospital. Born in Putnam, he was the son of the late Henry and Jennie (LaCroix) Mayotte. He met his loving wife Beatrice (Benard) Mayotte at age 14 and they spent the next 70 years together. They spent their retirement living in Ocala, FL and traveling the country together. He lovingly cared for her at home with debilitating Alzheimer’s for five years until her death in 2014.

Mr. Mayotte worked as an electrician for Local 35 and was a proud sixty-three year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was a Korean War Army Veteran. He enjoyed traveling, taking family and friends to dinner and regaling everyone he met with stories of his life or a quick-witted joke.

He was a member of many organizations over the years in both CT and FL such as The Elks, The American Legion and local sportsmen’s clubs.

Henry is survived by his grandchildren; Melissa Hynes and her husband Don, Gabriel Mayotte and his wife Sharon, Joshua Keen and Kayla Keen of Hawaii; and six great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his children, Timothy Mayotte and Patricia Keen.

Henry donated to the Alzheimer’s Association for research and programs and services in honor of his beloved wife Beatrice. His family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made in memory of Henry and Bea.

Relatives and friends are invited to a graveside service with Military Honors for Henry on Friday October 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Mary Cemetery, Providence St. Putnam, CT. Gilman Funeral Home & Crematory have been entrusted with his arrangements. For memorial guestbook visit www.GilmanAndValade.com.

He was one of the most interesting men I have ever met. He showed me things I thought I would never see, and I am glad I’m his great-grandson.
