Putnam – Helen M. Marion, 96, formerly of Pomfret Street, died Saturday December 12, 2009.  Born in Southington, CT on October 25, 1913, she was the last of nine children of the late Felix and Victoria (Zysk) Maciora.

Helen lived for most of her life in New Britain, where she worked for Fafner Bearing and Stanley Works.  In the early 1970’s, she moved to Hartford, where she worked for sixteen years for the State of Connecticut Public Works Department in payroll accounting.  Upon her retirement, she moved to Thompson, and later to Putnam, where she became a proud homeowner at the age of 80.

Helen was a member of the Royal Travelers, Polish American Citizens Club, Hill Senior Center of Hartford, and the Salvation Army.  She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church, North Grosvenordale, and formerly belonged to St. Joseph Cathedral in Hartford.

Helen is survived by her son, George C. Marion of Fulton, TX; her daughter, Dorothy Landini of Old Saybrook, CT; her grandson, George W. Marion and his wife Ellen of Suffield, CT; two great-grandchildren, Haley Marion and Michael Marion, also of Suffield; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Joseph Maciora, Mary Rakowski, Anna Fell, Stella Kilpatrick, Lillian Ahlquest, Pauline Maciora, and Regina Maciora.  A brother, Stanislaw Maciora, died before Helen was born.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Helen’s family from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 17, 2009 in the Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., N.
