
Putnam – Gregory John Humes, 35 of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania died unexpectedly on Thursday, October 12, 2006 at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. Born in Putnam, he was the son of Melvin and Shirley (Poulin) Humes of Leesburg Florida.
He was a 1989 graduate of Putnam High School and a 1993 graduate of Bryant College, Smithfield, Rhode Island. In 2000 he received his Master of Business Administration in Finance from Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts. He was employed by Zurich International Corporation in Philadelphia as a managing account executive. Previously he was employed in Boston for 13 years. While living in Boston, he mentored at the Boys and Girls Club, and coached youth basketball. A talented athlete, he most recently participated in the Lance Armstrong Bicycle Ride for a Cure in Philadelphia, personally raising over $1,500.
Besides his parents, he leaves behind three brothers and their spouses: Glen and Rosemary Humes of Woodstock; Alan and Nyantara Humes of Cocoa, Florida; David and Joanna Humes of Melbourne, Florida; and one sister, Melanie Baillargeon of Cocoa, Florida, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Greg was a devoted uncle to ten nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Carl in 1995 and Gary in 2003.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Greg’s family Tuesday, October 17, 2006 from 6 to 8 pm in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church Street, Putnam. A gathering will begin at 10:30 am Wednesday morning at the funeral home with a Funeral Service at 11:30 am. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery.
