Grace C. White

1934 – 2010

Danielson – Grace (Phillips) White, 75, of Dark Lantern Hill Rd, died Wednesday, January 6, 2010, in Day Kimball Hospital.  Born in Southbridge, MA, and raised in Charlton, MA, she was the daughter of the late Maro and Charlotte (Barnes) Phillips. 

Mrs. White worked as a spinner for Hale Manufacturing and as a machine operator for Bolmet Industries in the Killingly Industrial Park until her retirement in 1997.

She loved horses and at one time, she cared for and bred 38 horses.  She enjoyed going cross country on motorcycles, and the outdoors including camping and campfires.  She had a talent for playing the accordion and other musical instruments.  She enjoyed country music, in her younger years was in bands, and played at various clubs.  She enjoyed the “simple life.” 

Grace is survived by her sons, Henry White, Jr. and his wife Kim of Danielson, and Leo “David” White Sr and his wife Karen of Woodstock; her sister, Elsie Lang and her husband Thomas of Cape Cod; her brothers Maro Phillips and his wife Geri of Canada; and Carl Phillips of Charlton; her grandchildren,  David White, Jr. of Florida, Jason White of Danielson, Daniel White of Woodstock, Thomas White of Woodstock, and Michael White of Woodstock; and her great grandchildren, Mike and Mychaela.

She was predeceased by her great grandchild, Joshua David White in 1996.

Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service for Grace at 11:00 am on Saturday January 16, 2010 in The Church of the Good Shepherd, 12 Bradford Corner Road, West Woodstock, CT.  Gilman Funeral Homes has been entrusted with her arrangements.
