The staff at Gilman and Valade Funeral Homes in Putnam, Connecticut are starting 2015 on the right foot…Literally. They have challenge the office staff at Mooney Keehley Printers, a specialty printing company in Rochester, New York that manufactures and prints custom funeral stationary, to a Fit Bit Step contest. Fit Bit is a personal pedometer that tracks the number of steps you walk and then syncs them with your phone or computer. Once synced, each team member can track and compare how they are doing and share that information with the other participants.
Team Gilman & Valade includes Team Captain Robert “Bob” Fournier, William Juzwic, Wendy Warren Cudworth and Maurice Coderre. Team Mooney Keehley includes Team Captain Ken Hampson, Lisa Lennon, Jeff Haak, and Wendy Moroz. Other than the team captains, none of the participants know each other.
Team Captain Fournier said “In the cold winter months, it is so easy to become sedentary. With this challenge, it will encourage each of us to keep active and keep moving despite the weather.” Team Captain Hampson in trying to motivate his team said, “While you have never met the folks at Gilman and Valade, I can tell you that this is not much of a challenge – But it is a challenge none the less and as your fearless leader, I don’t like to lose.”
Whichever team walks the most steps in the month of January will win the coveted “Bragging Rights Award”.
