N. Grosvenordale – Gertrude “Trudy” Murphy, 81, of Buckley Hill Rd., died Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospital. She was the loving wife of Arthur Murphy. Born in Putnam, she was the daughter of the late Camile and Winifred (LaCroix) Brodeur.
Mrs. Murphy prior to retirement worked in the accounts payable department for Hale Manufacturing. Trudy was a member of the American Legion. She enjoyed going to the YMCA with her husband to swim, feeding the birds, cooking, baking, and reading novels.
In addition to her husband, Trudy is survived by her sons; Glenn Lovejoy Johnson of Liberty, MS, Dana LaCroix Johnson of Riverside, CA; her daughter Tracy Johnson of Boston, MA; , her step son, Brian Murphy of CT; her brother Billy Brodeur of Henrico, VA; her sister Barbara Peckham of Denver, NC; and ten grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Maureen Frances Rooney.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Trudy’s family from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, on Monday, June 24, 2013 at the Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., N. Grosvenordale CT. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 12:00 noon at St. Joseph Church, 18 Main St., N. Grosvenordale. Burial will follow at East Thompson Cemetery.
