Dear Richard and Wanda, (Michelle, too!):
I have been thinking of Freda quite a bit and sensed that she probably was no longer with us in this world, at least. So, in the age of computers, it wasn’t anytime at all to locate her obituary. I had spoken to her after who move to CT. However, I did not know she had moved to the nursing home. Freda new that I was struggling with a painful neurological condition since the year 2000. This made keeping in touch difficult the past few years, and I am sorry that I hadn’t spoken to her in the last couple of years. My husband and I bought land on St. Simons Island, GA, many years ago and we finally were able to build a home here in 2008 and moved from Delaware. Enough about me – I just want you to know that Freda lives on in many ways in our family. Although the children are all grown – some with families of their own – the older children remember, “Freda Burgers,” “Freda Grilled Cheese Sandwiches,” etc. We have many warm memories and I treasure many of the stories she shared with me. She was such a sweet woman – so kind and giving and always thinking of others first. She was a simple lady who was obviously devoted to God and her family. I shared many important events during my friendship with Freda, to include the birth of my 2nd child, Douglas, who is now nearly 25. And of course your remember Ryann, who has recently turned 29 and is a mother of four children herself – 7-yr-old boy/girl twins, which Freda knew about. She also has a 6-yr-old son and a 3-yr-old daughter. I love my grandchildren dearly. Allie – the little red-head that I am not sure you knew about or not – I believe so. Anyway, she is 22 and I have a 19-year-old son with my husband, Bob Aldinger. I was divorced from my first husband. Anyway, please give Michelle my regards – I know she is sad without her dear grandmother their for her. I hope that Freda’s last few years were happy and comfortable. I’m sure she didn’t know that we were moving to Georgia. I went through a wonderful pain rehab program and they got me moving for the first time in ten years and taught me how to get ahead of the pain through exercise, alternative methods of handling pain (not just lot’s of pain meds.) So, life is good. I know you will miss your wonderful mother. I know how much she adored her family. God Bless you all!
