LaRose Florence

1924 – 2020

Putnam – Florence (Petrin) LaRose, 96, of Ballou St. passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Matulaitis Nursing Home on Friday, October 2, 2020. In 1946 Florence married her true love Arthur “Joe” LaRose, who predeceased her in 1996. Born in Putnam, she was the daughter of the late Pierre and Maria (Petrin) Petrin.

Florence worked as a Payroll Clerk for Belding Corticelli for 13 years and later worked at Acme Cotton, Knox Glass, and Foxwoods Resort Casino.

Florence dearly loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. It was her tradition that on their birthdays she would take the time to pick out just the right card for each of them. This tradition was loved by Florence, but it was treasured by her family. Even in her 90’s she was active always looking forward to going to the hair salon or a casino.

Florence is survived by her son, Leo D. LaRose and his wife Susan, daughter; Carol A. Artiaco and her husband Edward, three grandchildren; Angela Baron and her husband Christopher, Bryan Artiaco and his wife Jennifer, Michael Artiaco, five beautiful great grandchildren, Halle Baron, Camryn Baron, Jianna Artiaco, Mia Artiaco, and Luca Artiaco.. She is predeceased by her son, Allan N. LaRose, brother Norman Petrin and sister; Claire Gothreau.

All funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Gilman Funeral Home and Crematory, 104 Church St., Putnam, CT. 06260. A Mass of Christian will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at 11:00 am in St. Mary Church, 218 Providence St, Putnam, CT. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. I was truly sorry to hear of the loss of Florence. She was one of the most FUN & upbeat person to know, get together with at a restaurant or casino, play cards with at Eddie & Carol’s! We all have good & happy memories of Florence!! Many stories that can bring you to tears laughing: that’s Florence. God be with her always & May she have eternal rest in heaven with everyone dear to us.

To the Entire LaRose & Artiaco Families: Our thoughts & prayers are with each of you … Florence & my Mother became dear friends recently ,,,, I was so glad that they were able to spend many happy times together over the past few months ..
