Putnam – Ernest “Ernie” Laurion, 81, of Chase St., died Friday, April 15, 2011 in the Matulaitis Nursing Home. He was the loving husband of the late Cynthia (McNally) Laurion. Born in Putnam, he was the son of the late Ernest and Florence (Chagnon) Laurion.
Mr. Laurion served in the Army during the Korean War. He was employed for A&P Tea Company for 49 years and owned Ernie’s Package Store. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Cargill Council #64, the VFW Albert J. Breault Post, and a life member of the Elks where he obtained “Elk of the Year.” He loved playing cards and Golf, but especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family.
Ernie is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Aldrich and her husband Arthur of North Dighton, MA, and Sharon Briere and her husband Michael of Putnam; his grandchildren, Joshua Aldrich, Ryan and his wife Meghan Aldrich, Melissa Payne, Zachary Briere, and Cynthia Briere; and his great grand daughter Natalie Payne.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Ernie’s family from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, April 19, 2011 in the Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., N. Grosvenordale CT. A gathering will begin at 10:00 am on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. Joseph Church, 20 Main St., N. Grosvenordale. God bless you, Cousin Ernie. You were so devoted to my mom, Florence, who you lovingly called Fla. I so remember the Saturday night card games that moved between your house and my mom and dad’s….Rummy Cup! You are at peace now.
