Ernest “Champ” Lariviere

1921-2010

Putnam – Ernest “Champ” Lariviere, 88 of Seward St. died Saturday February 6, 2010 at home.  He was the loving husband of Dorothy (Lepine) Lariviere for 62 years.  Born in Putnam, he was the son of the late Adelard and Dorila (Brodeur) Lariviere.

Mr. Lariviere worked as a mold maker for American Standard Co.  He had also worked for the former Cluett & Peabody Co. and the Putnam Woolen Mill.  He was a World War II and Korea Army Veteran.  He was a member of Cargill Council 64 Knights of Columbus and served as a Boy Scout Scoutmaster for many years.  He enjoyed traveling to Florida and caring for his dog Chip.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his brother, Adelard Lariviere and his wife Jenny of Webster; a brother in law, Eugene LeClair of South Carolina, two sister-in-laws, Muriel Lariviere, and Shirley Dowgiewicz and her husband Edward, all of Webster; and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his son Raymond E. Lariviere, his brother, Laurent “McGee” Lariviere and his sister Jeanne LeClair.

Relatives and friends are invited to Champ’s Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 11am on Tuesday February 9, 2010 in Most Holy Trinity Church, 568 Pomfret Street, Pomfret.  Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.   Memorial donations may be made in his memory to Hospice of Northeast Connecticut, PO Box 632, Putnam, CT 06260 or to Project Northeast, 81 Church St. Putnam, CT 06260.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Gilman Funeral Home.
