1941– 2012

Woodstock – Erlene (Powers) Grendell, 70, of Rockyhill Rd. died Monday, April 23, 2012 in UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester, MA. She was the loving wife of Leslie Grendell. Born in Bangor, ME, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Birdie (Caco) Powers.

Mrs. Grendell was a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her family and her home. She loved caring for her dogs and enjoyed crocheting.

In addition to her husband, Erlene is survived by her sons, Stephen W. Grendell and his wife Brenda of Maine, Richard W. Grendell of Woodstock, Brent W. Grendell and his wife Cheryl of Leicester, MA, and Dale W. Grendell and his wife Melissa of Charlton, MA; her sisters, Tamara “Tammy” Smith of Maine, and Laurie Severance of Maine; nine grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, the late John Powers; and her sister, the late Jackie Anne Powers.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Erlene’s family from10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2012 in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam. Burial will be private as requested by the family. For memorial guestbook visit www.GilmanAndValade.com.

    To my Mom I have loved you since I was little and have grown to love you more as time and years have passed by. You and Dad of course have always been my inspiration and who I have tried to be like. I know that times havent always been easy but I have so many fond memories and No one can ever take them away!!!! I will always LOVE you Mom I will miss you so much!!! My Heart is with you Mom!!!     Dear Les, We both are saddened by losing Erlene. I remember her everytime I make her Pumpkin Choc.Chip cookies. My grandaughter loves to help. When she comes here thats the 1st thing she wants to do. She was a very nice lady and will be sadly missed. Hope to see you this summer. Paulette & Larry

    To grandma, I am blessed to have had the opportunity to get to know you. We had a bit of a rocky beginning, but soon grew to enjoy each others company. I have enjoyed a lot of that time. You were a great and strong woman. And i will miss you alot. I love you grandma very much. May you be at rest.
