Woodstock, CT– Edwin Hryzan, Sr. 78, of Route 197, died Saturday, December 8, 2012, in Day Kimball Hospital. He was the loving husband of the late Audrey (Forrest) Hryzan. Born in Putnam, he was the son of the late Sylvester and Michalene (Kachnowicz) Hryzan.
Mr. Hryzan worked as an upholsterer for Risom Manufacturing. He also worked as a construction worker and for the Woodstock transfer station. He was a Korean War veteran serving in the Marine Corps and was a member of the Quinebaug VFW. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, canoeing, kayaking and playing horseshoes. He had a unique and amazing sense of humor and took great pleasure in making others laugh.
Edwin is survived by his three sons, Edwin Hryzan, Jr. of Woodstock, CT, John “J.D.” Hryzan and his wife Doreen of Pomfret Center, CT and Brian K. Hryzan and his wife Cheryl of Thompson, CT; three brothers, Sylvester Hryzan of Dudley, MA Frederick Hryzan of Thompson, CT and Walter Hryzan of Littleton, NH; his sister, Theresa Zelazo of Dover, NH; two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Friends and relatives are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial for Edwin on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 11:00 am in St. Joseph Church, 18 Main St., North Grosvenordale, CT.
