Griswold, CT- Edward J. Haney, 39, formerly of Putnam, died Friday, April 27, 2007 in Florida. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Anessa (Trifilo) Haney. Born in Cranston, RI, he was the son of Jeanne (Mertz) Haney of Warwick, RI and the late Theodore Haney. Mr. Haney worked for LaMountain Brothers as an electrician. He was a Gulf War Navy Veteran. While he was enlisted, he enjoyed playing the guitar in the ship’s band. He was a volunteer with the Clean Walk and Battey Street Rehab Project. Besides his wife and mother, Edward is survived by a son, Derrek Haney of Warwick RI; three daughters, Jade Haney and Marisa Haney of Warwick RI, and Serena Haney of Griswold CT; two brothers, Robert Haney and his wife Amy of CedarTown GA, and Michael Haney of Cape Coral FL; two sisters, Teddy Haney of Warwick RI, and Carmen Haney of W. Greenwich RI; and his much-loved cat, Sagwa. Edward will be remembered by all who knew him as a loving man.
Friends and relatives are invited to visit with Edward’s family Thursday May 3, 2007 at 9 am in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church Street, Putnam with a Funeral Service at 10 am in the funeral home. Burial will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter, RI. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ed Haney Fund, PO Box 131, Putnam, CT 06260.
