Putnam – Dorothy “Dottie” L. Norman, 78, of Five Mile River Rd., died Saturday, March 15, 2014, in Matulaitis Nursing Home after a brief illness. Born in Suffield, CT, she was the daughter of the late Cecile and Laura (Day) Norman.
Dottie worked for many years at the Everlasting Designs in Vernon, CT.
Dottie loved spending time with her family, and particularly loved visiting her niece Kathie DeRoche in Concord, MA. Dottie spent the last seven years of her life in Putnam living with the Mancini family and was especially fond of Debbie and Laura Mancini, Merrie Chartier, and her roommate Betty Scheinman. She often said that she had the best times of her life living in Putnam. Dottie enjoyed going to Senior Program, working on craft projects, and adding to her many collections. She loved Christmas and always looked forward to the Norman Family party and playing with her youngest grandnephew, Cooper.
Dottie is survived by a brother Merton Norman of North Branford and several loving nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Marion and her brothers Richard, Donald, and Carl. She will be forever missed by her extended family, the Mancini Family, and her dear friends and fellow members of the Arc of Quinebaug Valley
The family will hold a graveside service in early May at Alderbrook Cemetery in Guilford, CT. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Gilman Funeral Home. For memorial guestbook visit www.GilmanAndValade.com
