Putnam – Doris R. Lacaus Nash, 90 of Park St. died Saturday, August 22, 2009 in Westview Healthcare Center. She was the wife of the late Joseph S. Nash whom she married on February 3, 1940 in St. Mary Church of the Visitation. Born in Putnam, she was the daughter of the late Maxim and Rose (Plante) Lacaus.

Mrs. Nash was a graduate of Putnam High School and worked for many years as an office manager for the Water Brothers Oil Co., retiring in 1983. Following their retirements, Mr. and Mrs. Nash spent winters in Edgewater, FL for 15 years. They were communicants of Most Holy Trinity Church. Mrs. Nash was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and thoroughly enjoyed caring for her granddaughter Susan as a child and watching her grow up. She loved her dogs and was an avid supporter of charitable animal causes. The family wishes to express great appreciation and thanks to the staff at Westview Healthcare Center for their exceptional care of Doris during her stay there.

Doris is survived by her son, Joseph J. Nash and his wife Susan of Putnam; her granddaughter Susan Nash-Ditzel and her husband Ron of Roselle Park, NJ; and two great-granddaughters, Abby Nash Ditzel and Amelia Sheffield Ditzel. She was predeceased by a sister & her husband, Muriel & Raymond Gauthier.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Doris’s family at 9:00am Thursday August 27, 2009 in the Gilman Funeral Homes, 104 Church Street, Putnam with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am in Most Holy Trinity Church, 568 Pomfret Rd., Pomfret, Ct. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Northeast Connecticut, PO Box 632, Putnam, CT 06260.
