Doris M. Hobby
1927 – 2009
Putnam – Doris Mae Hobby, 82, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2009 in Haven Health Care Center. Born in Manchester, CT, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Pearl (Heritage) Hobby. Doris worked at Laurian Cleaners in Putnam, as well as Pierce Memorial Baptist Home in Brooklyn. She lived with her parents and then with her great uncle Ed until he died in 1974. After his passing, she lived in Putnam and then the Roseland Home in Brooklyn. She was a member of the Congregational Church of Putnam, as well as being involved in A.R.C. of Quinebaug Valley, and the Quinebaug Senior Center. Doris loved bowling, and liked to read and watch TV. She also enjoyed taking trips around New England. However, her family was the most important thing to her.
Doris is survived by her sister, Barbara Hobby of West Hartford, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. She was predeceased by her two brothers and three sisters.
Relatives and friends are invited to her graveside Service at 10:00 am in Hanover Cemetery, Potash Hill Road, Sprague CT, on Monday, July 27, 2009. Gilman Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
