Woonsocket – Deborah Ann Tanny, 60, of South Main St., passed away Friday evening, June 19, 2015 in Rhode Island Hospital after a brief illness. She was the loving wife of Brian Tanny. Born in Newport, RI, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Tulba and Margaret (Wasilick) Tulba. Deborah lived in Woonsocket, RI for the past twelve years after growing up in Waterford, CT.
Mrs. Tanny was the former director of Early Care and Education at Connecting for Children and Families in Woonsocket, RI and former Site Manager of Child and Family Agency in New London, CT. “Miss Deb” as she was known by her students and their families was passionate about her “kids” and tireless in her devotion to them. She was an inspiration for so many young people.
Deborah enjoyed traveling, gardening, and baking. She was an active parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Woonsocket, RI, and will be missed by all her friends and family.
In addition to her husband, Deborah is survived by; her brothers, Rodney Tulba and his wife Kathy of Waterford, CT, and Paul Tulba and his wife Colleen of Montville, CT, and her sister, Marjorie Byrne and her husband Robert of East Lyme, CT; her beloved cat “Bandit”; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, June 26, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 415 Olo St, Woonsocket, RI. Burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Deborah’s memory to the Sacred Heart Church Restoration Fund, 415 Olo St., Woonsocket, RI 02895.
