1936-2007

North Grosvenordale – Deacon Michael J. Darnowski, Jr., 71, of Quinebaug Rd., died unexpectedly on July 31, 2007.  He was born in Brooklyn NY, the son of the late Michael J. Darnowski, Sr. and Mary (Keilbinski) Darnowski.

He was a 1959 graduate of St. John’s University in Jamaica NY, where he obtained a BS in Chemistry.  Mr. Darnowski worked for Borden Chemical Company for 25 years, retiring in 2003.  He was ordained a deacon for the Diocese of Norwich on June 12, 2005 by Most Reverend Michael R. Cote D.D. at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Norwich, CT and served at St. Joseph Church of N. Grosvenordale.  He enjoyed collecting coins and cell drawings, as well as reading.

Michael is survived by 2 sons, Michael J. Darnowski III of Webster MA, and Christopher J. Darnowski of Woodstock; 1 brother, Vincent Darnowski of Corydon IN; 2 sisters, Constance Stoll of Uncasville, and Patricia Studley of Massapequa NY; and 1 grandchild, Michael J. Darnowski IV of Webster MA.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Michael’s family Sunday, August 5, 2007 from 4-7pm in the Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., N. Grosvenordale, CT.  A gathering will begin at 10am Monday, August 6 in the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St. Joseph Church, 20 Main St., N. Grosvenordale, CT.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michael’s name to the American Cancer Society, Franklin Commons, 106 Rte. 32, Franklin, CT 06254-1800.
