Putnam – Danielle A. (Cartier) Bedard, 43, of Park Rd., passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 16, 2021 at her home. She was the beloved wife and high school sweetheart to Matthew J. Bedard. Born in Putnam, she was the daughter of Susan (Scraba) Johnston and the late John E. Cartier and stepdaughter to Mark W. Johnston whom she considered her “Dad”.
Danielle worked as a table games dealer for Twin River Casino in Lincoln, RI after her time at Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun. She was a 1996 graduate of Killingly High School where she was a member of the Elite Chorus under Pam Rogers and played the clarinet in the concert band and the Big Red Marching Band. She traveled with these groups to France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Montreal, Virginia and Florida to play. She attended the University of Maine at Farmington majoring in Early Childhood Education. She enjoyed 4H Camp, swimming, horses, thunderstorms, movies to name a few things. She especially loved spending summers as a child at Cape Cod with her Cartier grandparents and her cousins. Danielle will be remembered by those who loved and adored her for her kindness, generosity and her big heart.
In addition to her husband and parents, Danielle is survived by her son, the love of her life, Thomas E. Bedard to whom she will be sending Angel kisses; and fondly leaves many Scraba, Johnston, Cartier, Starr, and Bedard uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her grandparents, Stanley and Joan Scraba and Jack and Jeannette Cartier; her father-in-law, Edward J. Bedard; her brother, John Christopher Cartier; and her Godfather, S. Thomas Scraba, whom she was extremely close with. Her mother-in-law, Denise Bedard passed away on the same day due to separate circumstances.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Danielle’s family from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, July 23, 2021 in the Gilman Funeral Home and Crematory, 104 Church St., Putnam followed by a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. in St. Mary Cemetery, 230 Providence St, Putnam, CT.
