1925 – 2023

Putnam – Daniel G. Mulvaney, 98, of Richmond Rd., died Sunday evening, February 12, 2023, at Westview Healthcare.  He was the loving husband of Romona (Payne) Mulvaney of Putnam and the late Violet (LaFlamme) Mulvaney.  Born in Ware, MA, he was the son of the late Daniel A. and Julia (McGrath) Mulvaney.

Mr. Mulvaney was a veteran of World War II serving with the United States Navy serving aboard the USS Blackfish and USS Haddock, being honorably discharged on October 31, 1947, in Pensacola, FL.

Mr. Mulvaney worked as a Director of Safety for Northeast Utilities.

Daniel enjoyed reading, golfing, traveling with his wife, and eating out with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Romona (Payne) Mulvaney; his stepdaughter, Joanne Coderre and her husband Michael of Woodstock; his grandchildren, Daniel “Toby” Mulvaney, Jason Coderre and his wife Fidelia, Joseph Laflamme and his wife Alyson, and Amy Laflamme; his great grandchildren, Landon Coderre and Zuri Coderre; daughter in law Joanne Laflamme, wife of the late Alan Laflamme, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Daniel B. Mulvaney and his siblings, Robert Mulvaney, Richard Mulvaney, and Margaret Cortese .

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Daniel’s family from 11:30AM to 12:30PM on Thursday, February 16, 2023, in the Gilman Funeral Home and Crematory, 104 Church St., Putnam, CT 06260, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00PM in St. Mary Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence St., Putnam, CT.  Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Tribute Program, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN, 38105 or American Heart Association, P.O.     Dan used to visit us daily at Cumberland Farms. He always had a kind word to say and he always left us smiling.He will be greatly missed. My condolences to the family.

    We are so sorry for your loss of this wonderful man, Danny Mulvaney. He simply went with the flow and enjoyed being with all of you. God blessed him with a long life, mainly because he was loved by each and every one of you. He will be missed by all of us.
