Clifford J. Svenning
1940 – 2009
North Grosvenordale – Clifford J. “The Dog” Svenning, 68, of Faucher Street, died Wednesday, March 18, 2009, in Haven Health Care Center. Born in Webster, MA, he was the son of the late Clifford R. Svenning and Ethel (Peterson) Svenning.

Mr. Svenning worked as a cutter for Bates Shoe and as a baker for Superior Bakery for over 25 years where he rarely missed a day. Mr. Svenning was an avid fisherman. He frequently fly-fished and always took the opportunity to “wet his line”. He was well known by his many friends as a master fly tier. He was a lifetime member of the Valley Springs Sportsman Club. He was an avid golfer and belonged to the Thompson Lions Golf League where he played in the league for over 35 years. He also belonged to the Retirement League at the Woodstock Golf Club. He had a true ability to make golf clubs that helped many friends lower their scores. He was a lifelong member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church in North Grosvenordale where he was baptized and confirmed. He rang the church bell each Sunday and was the “ticket seller” at the church suppers.

Clifford is survived by his brother, Robert Svenning and his wife Ellen from Boylston, MA; his cherished niece Kerinna Svenning Silvesti and her husband Lucio Silvestri of Westboro, MA; his nephew Robert Svenning, Jr. and his wife Deanna Devaney of London, England; many cousins and friends. His quick wit and knowledge will be sadly missed by all.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Clifford’s family from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, Friday, March 20, 2009 in the Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., N. Grosvenordale CT. A Funeral Service will take place at 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 21, 2009 in Emanuel Lutheran Church, 23 Main Street, North Grosvenordale, CT. Burial in the Lutheran Cemetery will take place at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to the Emmanuel Lutheran Memorial Fund, PO Box 221, North Grosvenordale, CT 06255.
