Thompson— Clarence A. Gagne, 80, of West Thompson Road died Sunday July 8, 2007 at Home. He was the husband of the late Lorraine (Courtemanche) Gagne. Born in Willimantic, he was the son of the late Arthur and Florence (Gledhill) Gagne.
Mr. Gagne worked as a foreman for the former Belding Cortecelli Mill. He had owned and operated the Citgo Station on Providence Street in Putnam. He had also worked for the Rogers Corporation, Putnam Hertzel and Putnam Foundry. He was a member and past president of the Foreman’s Club at Belding Cortecelli. He volunteered as an umpire for the Pomfret Little League. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and gardening.
Clarence is survived by two sons, Clarence “Larry” Gagne and his wife Doris of Pomfret Center and James Joseph Gagne of Danielson; a daughter, Penny Gagne Francisco and her fiancé James Gunderman of Thompson; a sister, Laura “Betty” Holmes of Willimantic; six grandchildren, Cherie Gagne, Danielle Francisco, Michelle Gagne, Shawna Francisco, James A. Gagne, Larry Franklin and Michael Gunderman; and two great grandchildren, Gabriel Merkel and Noah Gallant.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Clarence’s family on Tuesday, July 10, 2007, from 6:00-8:00 pm. in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church Street, Putnam.
A gathering will begin at 9am Wednesday at the funeral home with a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am in Sacred Heart Church, 47 West Thompson Rd, Thompson. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date.
