Claire Elizabeth Adiletta
1924 – 2012

Thompson – Claire Elizabeth Fischer Adiletta, 87, of Vernon Lane, died Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at home attended by her family. She was the loving wife, for over 64 years, of the late Dr. Joseph G. Adiletta. Born in Bronx, NY, she was the daughter of the late William and Katherine (Towey) Fischer.

Mrs. Claire Adiletta attended New York University School of Engineering, where she studied Aeronautical Engineering and where she met her future husband, Dr. Joseph G. Adiletta. Claire believed in the value of education and she instilled in her children the desire to pursue advanced learning. Mrs. Adiletta worked at the Bank of China in New York City before she began her second career of raising her six children and supporting her husband in his successes.

Mrs. Adiletta was also very active in the community, having served with the American Red Cross and Pro Christo in Riverside, CT. When the family moved to Thompson, she helped organize the Visiting Nurse Association, which became the Northeast District Department of Health. She was a driving force in the League of Women Voters, served on the Women’s Board of Day Kimball Hospital, and was an early member of Opera New England, now known as Performing Arts of Northeastern Connecticut. Claire was a Cub Scout Den Mother for her five sons while in Riverside and Thompson.

Mrs. Adiletta cherished her family, friends and community. She and Dr. Adiletta were members of the Cotillion Club which organized spectacular dining and dancing events. She loved to dance, to garden, to play bridge, casual golfing with her friends, and lively political discussions. She will be remembered for her smile, her poise, her compassion and her generosity.

Claire Adiletta is survived by her sons, John Adiletta (Barbara) of Bernardsville, NJ; William Adiletta (Susan) of Cranbury, NJ; Joseph Adiletta (Dawn) of East Woodstock, CT; Mark Adiletta ( Debra) of Fairport, NY; Matthew (Karen) Adiletta of Bolton, MA; her daughter Patricia Brigman (Jeffry) of Elm Grove, WI; her sister, Helen Fischer of Brooklyn, NY; nineteen grandchildren: Joseph (Erin) Adiletta of Cambridge, MA; Julie Adiletta (Dave) Boyle of Severna Park, MD; Christopher (Joy) Adiletta of Bothell, WA; Anthony (Lauren) Adiletta of Ewing, NJ; Dan (Laura) Adiletta of Thompson, CT; April Adiletta of Cranbury, NJ; Jeffrey (Samantha) Adiletta of Kingspoint, GA; Garrett Brigman and Logan Brigman of Milwaukee, WI; Cara Brigman of Elm Grove, WI; Blake Brigman of Milwaukee, WI; Elyise Brigman of Elm Grove, WI; Christopher Adiletta, of Omaha, Neb; Nichole Adiletta, of Albany, NY; Mark Adiletta of Syracuse, NY; Matthew, Andrew, Jack Thomas and Kathryn May Adiletta of Bolton, MA; and four great-grandchildren: Lincoln, Casey, Amelia and Jasper; and over 50 beloved nieces and nephews.
