Charles H. LeVine, Sr.

Published: January 11, 2008 Leave A Condolence

In Memorial

1926 – 2008

Manlius – Charles LeVine, 81, died peacefully in the company of his family, in Worcester, MA on Wednesday, January 2, 2008, after spending a happy Christmas at his son’s house in northeast Connecticut.  He was the beloved husband of Patricia LeVine.

Charles graduated from Syracuse University.  He was a mechanical engineer and spent over 30 years of his career at General Electric Co. in Utica and Syracuse, NY.  He worked on the Over the Horizon radar program as a deputy program manager and was responsible for assuring the radar’s reliability and maintainability.

Charles will be dearly missed by all who knew him.  He was a warm, loving man who enjoyed classical music, opera, reading, talk radio, political debate and college sports.  He was also an accomplished trumpeter, having performed with the Bell Symphony Orchestra at Carnegie Hall.  But he will be mostly remembered as a dedicated and devoted husband and father, who deeply cared for his family and always put them first.

Besides his wife, he leaves three loving children and their families, Anne Kiessling and her husband Bill and son Will of Nashville, TN, Margaret Hopton and her husband Robert and daughter Elizabeth of Middleton, WI and Charles LeVine, Jr. and his three children Charlie, Katherine and Nathan of Pomfret Center, CT; and two brothers, Harry LeVine Jr. of Rockville, MD and Julian LeVine of Albany, NY.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, January 11, 2008 at the DeWitt Community Church, 3600 Erie Blvd East, DeWitt, NY.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Syracuse Symphony, 411 Montgomery Street, Syracuse, NY  13202 or Syracuse Opera, 411 Montgomery Street, Syracuse, NY  13202.
