Woodstock – Carey Williams, 91, of Perrin Road, died Sunday, March 2, 2008 in Putnam. He was the loving husband of Rae (Burton) Williams for 61 years. Born in Henderson NC, he was the son of the late James and Emma (Grissom) Williams.
Mr. Williams worked as a salesman for Electrolux for 50 years and a horse trainer for 70 years. Mr. Williams’ great love of horses led him to become the co-founder of the CT Hunter Jumper Association, as well as the Tristate Horsemen’s Association. In addition, he owned and operated Trapalanda Stables in Woodstock.
Mr. Williams was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. While serving his country, he was the recipient of the Asiatic Pacific Medal, the American Theater Medal, and the Victory Medal. Mr. Williams was a member of the American Legion of Woodstock.
In addition to his wife, Carey is survived by his daughters, Jeanne Galuska of Boca Raton FL, Sandra Trombley of Ft. Lauderdale FL, and Anita Williams of Woodstock; his grandson, Craig Trombley of Woodstock; his brother, Joseph Williams and his sister, Nellie Williams both of Florida.
