San Diego, CA – Braden Jockmyhn AKA George V. Poirier, 41, of Herman Ave., died suddenly Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at work. He was the son of Marie-Claire (Szkutak) Songhurst of Sparta, NC and the late Robert A. Poirier of Moosup, CT. Braden received his Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Connecticut.
Mr. Jockmyhn worked in the healthcare industry as a social worker in both Africa helping families affected with AIDS and in California assisting elderly immigrants.
He was an avid weightlifter and was in training to become a competitive weightlifter.
Braden is survived by his mother, Marie-Claire Songhurst of Sparta, NC and his step-father, Gregory Songhurst; his three sisters Katrina Poirier, Theresa Poirier, and Elizabeth Poirier; his three half-siblings, Glen Poirier, Keith Poirier, and Leslie Roy; his two step-brothers John Kelley and Gregory Songhurst and several nieces, and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2021 in All Hallows Church, 130 Prospect St., Moosup, CT 06354. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Danielson. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Gilman Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Church St., Putnam, CT.
