
1925 – 2016
Dayville – Bernice (Comeau) Swenson, 91, of Ware Rd., formerly of Putnam and Brooklyn, CT, died Wednesday, July 13, 2016 in Westview Health Care Center. She was the loving wife of 44 years to the late William M. Swenson. Born in Stamford, CT, she was the daughter of the late Lorenzo and Margaret (Mallett) Comeau.
Mrs. Swenson was a 1943 graduate of Greenwich High School. She worked as a marketing office manager for U.S. Tobacco Corp. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Society, the Women’s Guild, and was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout Leader for many years. She taught sewing at St. Catherine’s School and ran a state licensed Day Care. She enjoyed cross stitching, crocheting, sewing and baking.
Bernice is survived by her sons, Robert Swenson and his wife Laurie of Putnam, and Phillip Swenson and his wife Susan of Brooklyn, CT; her daughter, Margaret Jaffer of Bonita Springs, FL; her brothers, Lawrence Comeau and his wife Dorothy of West Brookfield, MA, and Roy Comeau and his wife Bev of AZ; her grandchildren, Jennifer, Renee, Tara, Nathan, Katelyn, Sebastian and Max; and many great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, the late Michael Swenson; and her sisters, the late Theresa Rinella and Fran Joudray.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Bernice’s family from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 17, 2016 in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam. Burial will take place on Monday, July 18, 2016 in St. Mary Cemetery, 399 North St., Greenwich, CT.

Bob, Margaret, and Flip, so sorry and sad aunt Bernie has passed away. We always spent so much time visiting her as long as I can remember. I loved her. In recent years she always offered us a place to stay when we came home to visit. We always had fun with her. I have missed her these last 10 years since I last visited her. She was loved by many. My condolences to you and your families. I have lots of memories of her from childhood and through out my life. My kids do too. I wish I could come but sadly I can t. So sorryfor your loss.
