BELLA MARIE SHERLOCK
1919-2012

Bella (Marchesseault) Sherlock passed away at her home in Hampton, NH with her family and friends at her side. She was born Mary Bella Marchesseault in North Grosvenordale, CT on August 2, 1919 to the late Henry and Rose (Breault) Marchesseault. On Oct. 7, 1939, she married the late Norman Anthony Sherlock and lived her entire life in Putnam, CT until her move to Hampton in 2004 to be with her daughter. Bella was an active community member serving the Visiting Nurses of Putnam, Putnam Women’s Club, Cub Scout and Girl Scout troops, volunteer for Day Kimball Hospital, and Census Taker for the state of Connecticut. For 25 years, she served as Optometric Assistant to the late Dr. Rene Desaulniers. Upon her move to Hampton, she became an active member of the Catholic Women’s Club and Grandmother to Grade 3 at Sacred Heart School. Bella loved people, her family, and Scrabble at which she was unbeatable. She taught Arts and Crafts at camps for many years and was an expert at knitting, needlepoint, and Cross Stitch.
Bella is survived by her three children, Mary Frances Bernard and son-in-law Philip Bernard of Danielson, Michael Paul Sherlock and daughter-in-law Jan Sherlock of East Hartland, Nancy Catherine Leavitt of Hampton, NH; grandsons David Bernard of Agoura Hills, California, Michael Bernard of Danielson, Christopher Leavitt of Bennington, NH and Benjamin Leavitt of Danville, NH; Great-grandchildren, Zachary and Erin Bernard of Danielson, Brianna and Jacob Leavitt of NH, and her many friends in Connecticut and New Hampshire.
Above all Bella will be remembered for her kind and loving ways and her devotion to her family. In lieu of flowers, please make donations payable to Outreach Center, Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal 289 Lafayette Rd. Hampton, NH 03842. Services will be held at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, 218 Providence St, Putnam on Tuesday June 26, 2012 at 1:00pm.

    Aunt Bella was a beautiful woman, loving wife to my Uncle Norman, and wonderful mother to her family. I will always have fond memories of her. Our correspondance over the last few years was so enjoyable. She so appreciated life and her family.
