Condolence from Paul and Marie Desautels on August 3rd, 2015 6:38 pm

I (Paul) remember Barry as a wonderful young teen, a member of St. Mary Youth Group. He was dedicated to the church and one year gave me a deck of UNO cards. When I said I didn’t know how to play Barry told me not to be home Sunday afternoon and he, along with almost a dozen Youth Group members arrived. This became a tradition and every Sunday for several years saw teens in my apartment, playing UNO, watching football, talking and planning activities. My wife had Barry as a student at St. Mary School. I will never forget the look on his face when, as a teen, I told him I had grown up across the street from his mother. Barry will always be remembered as a person who had a ready smile for everyone and who can’t be remembered to say a bad word against another person (basketball refs excluded). He was a good person and will be fondly and lovingly in our memories.

Condolence from George White on August 4th, 2015 8:41 am

Very sorry for your loss. It’ll be a loss realized by many. I worked with Barry for the past year and a half, sat across from him in my cubical and enjoyed our conversations about hunting and outdoors (still have the pic he sent me on my phone of last years dear 🙂 ). I admire and respect Barry for his work ethic but most of all for his love and dedication to his family. Sitting here looking at a clipping of an article about his son and family pics says it all. He once told me he couldn’t imagine a life without family. I’ll remember him as a man’s man, responsible, ready to assist and share his knowledge, someone who will tell you how it is in a way that was receptive and appreciated.
Please find comfort in this time of need.

He is happy & healthy once again. I am confident that meme & pepe, auntie Jean and my mom as well as many others were there to greet him.

Condolence from Roy Rossi on August 4th, 2015 3:00 pm

I learned from Barry. He was intelligent. He was always willing to help. He cared. Saying he will be missed professionally and personally here at the office is true but a large understatement. Because of his knowledge and teamwork, we accomplished a great deal.

He was proud of his family, yet in a humble way. His family should know from an outside perspective we could all see that he took great joy and comfort from his family and that was where his core was.

Condolence from Wesley Saurette on August 5th, 2015 8:42 am

I worked with Barry the whole time he was at CVS. I will deeply miss him. His personality at work was iron wrapped in velvet. I mean he was always professional and willing to help but never willing to compromise on things that mattered. Then, when we talked of family, you saw the real Barry. So caring of his wife and sons. So proud of the men his sons were becoming. I mourn for your loss.

I worked with Barry when I first started with CVS and he taught me a lot right of the bat which helped shape me into the man I am today. I will cherish the time we got to work together throughout. When it wasn’t about work it was about his sons or about our game rooms and adding to them. I’m going to miss working, talking, and learning from him, my thoughts and prayers to his family.

Condolence from Joshua Gates on August 7th, 2015 8:06 pm

I am shocked as is everyone else with Barry’s passing. I first met Barry years ago when he was with Staples. I clicked with him instantly because of his sense of humor and passion to do the right thing. I remember him as very kind hearted individual that always spoke of a work life balance which was heavily driven for the love of his family. At the time I didn’t fully understand stand his concept until now, married with 2 boys myself I can see where he was coming from. I recently got back in touch with Barry and just can’t believe this. I will miss you buddy. Amy, Matt and Zach, you are all in my thoughts.

Condolence from Robin Lofquist on August 18th, 2015 10:28 am

I was so saddened to read of Barry’s tragic death. Although you won’t recognize my name, I worked at Staples with Barry, where we commiserated over the commute from the Quiet Corner. I was always impressed with Barry’s professionalism and competence.

The other thing we shared was our intense pride in our children; Zachary and my daughter, Isabelle, shared the Patrick Wood prize in 2008, when they were about to start their careers at Pomfret School. Your father positively sparkled when he talked about you, Zach, and I know your character and accomplishments filled him with happiness.

This is a terrible blow, and nothing can make that OK, But I’m including a link to a poem that provided some comfort in my own time of loss.
