1921 – 2007

 Woodstock – Barbara (Menard) Herindeen, age 86, died unexpectedly Friday, June 29, 2007.  Mrs. Herindeen was the wife of the late Donn A. Herindeen, Sr.  Born in Putnam, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Irene (Murray) Menard.

Barbara was the Beloved Mother of six children.  She attended St. Mary’s School, Putnam Catholic Academy, Marot Junior College and was a 1942 graduate of the University of Connecticut.  She worked as a substitute teacher for the Putnam, Pomfret and Woodstock school systems for 25 years where she touched the lives of countless individuals.  She was passionate about her family, politics, animals and wildlife.

She is survived by her two sons, Donn Herindeen Jr. and his wife Bonny of Willington CT, and Dann Herindeen of Woodstock; her three daughters, Lynne Fiorentino of Woodstock, Debra Bernier and her husband Robert of Woodstock and Donna Rossi and her husband Bruno of Thompson; her sister, Marjorie Keating of Southwick MA; and two very special friends, Ruth Stevenson and Mary Ann Rossi.  Barbara also leaves ten grandchildren Robert, Michael and David Lafountain; Jeff Goglia, Robin Hart, & Joshua Hoyt; Kyle & Heather Herindeen; Meghan Rumsey; and Melissa Rossi; and sixteen great-grandchildren and two nieces.  She was predeceased by her daughter, Karen Mease Hoyt.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 am Friday July 6, 2007 in St. Mary Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence St., Putnam.  Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.  Donations in her memory may be made to Pet Pals Northeast, PO Box 64, Plainfield, CT 06374 or St. Mary’s School, 23 Marshall St., Putnam, CT 06260.
