Putnam – Barbara (Drost) Dexter, 70, of River Road, died Friday, November 15, 2013, in her home. She is the loving wife of 50 years to Thomas R. Dexter. They were married on October 26, 1963 in Saint Michael Cathedral in Springfield, MA. Born in Ludlow, MA, She was the daughter of the late Stanley and Mildred (Wolak) Drost.
Mrs. Dexter enjoyed flower gardening, vacationing in Florida and Cape Cod, and especially spending quality time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Barbara is survived by her sons, Mark A. Dexter and his wife Maureen of Ellington, CT, and Russell E. Dexter of Mansfield, CT ; her daughter, Tracey D. Matthews and her husband Lee of Feeding Hills, MA; her grandchildren Brandon, Timothy, Madison, Emma, and Marek.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, November 23, 2013, at 1:00 pm, in the Clark Memorial Chapel at the Pomfret School, 398 Pomfret St, Pomfret, CT, 06239. The Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam, CT has been entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Deary Memorial Cancer Fund, P.O. We were so sad to hear of Barbara’s passing. She had such a zest for life and such a positive attitude.Her love for her family came before anything else!
