Putnam – Arlene H. (McNally) Altmeier, 93, of Liberty Highway, passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Day Kimball Hospital. She was the wife of the late Theodore W. Altmeier, Sr. who died in 2007. Born in Putnam, she was the daughter of the late Warren and Una (Fortney) McNally.
Mrs. Altmeier was a volunteer worker in the gift shop at Day Kimball Hospital for many years. She enjoyed cooking for others, making puzzles, bird watching, and traveling to see her daughter in Montana. She was a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary in Putnam.
Arlene is survived by her children, Theodore W. “Bill” Altmeier, Jr. of Putnam, Marc Altmeier and his wife Patricia of Putnam, Barbara Paulsen and her husband Fred of Gardiner, MT, and Christine Altmeier and her longtime partner Jackie Benoit of Willimantic; her siblings, Phyllis Miller of Oneco, and Sandra Peterson of Putnam; four grandchildren, Jerrod Altmeier, Elaine Altmeier, Jamie Paulsen, and Ian Holt; seven great-grandchildren, Sierra and Anika Kolodziej, Julianne, Gwyneth, and Hannah Altmeier, Noah Holt, and Makayla Lavallee; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her siblings, Francis McNally, Florence Kennette and Cynthia Laurion.
Funeral services are private and have been entrusted to the Gilman Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Church St., Putnam, CT 06260.
