Anna “Betty” Simonzi
1912 – 2009

Dayville – Anna A. Simonzi, 96, died Saturday, July 11, 2009 in Westview Health Care Center. She was the loving wife of the late William Simonzi. Born in Central Falls, RI, she was the daughter of the late John and Regina (Mazurek) Wegiel.

Mrs. Simonzi worked as a homemaker and was very proud of being a den mother for the Boy Scouts of America. She enjoyed cooking for her family, gardening and was a skilled seamstress. She was a member of St. Mary Church of the Visitation in Putnam, Daughters of Isabelle, the Council of Catholic Women, and the Putnam Senior Citizens.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Alice Archambault and her husband Charles of North Grosvenordale; her son, Ralph Simonzi and his wife Selma of Bellevue, WA; her son in-law, Roger Blanchette of North Grosvenordale; her former daughter in-law, May Kasek of Danielson; her grandchildren, David R. Archambault and his wife Marcia of North Grosvenordale, Joseph C. Archambault and his wife Rabeya of United Arab Emirates, Marianne Zwicklbauer and her husband Michael of Newport News, VA, Rebecca Simonzi of MA, Mary Anna Gripe and her husband Tom of CA, Angela Simonzi of Bellevue, WA, Michelle Wilson of Putnam, Monique Blanchette of Putnam, Richard Blanchette of Hopkinton, MA, Christine Blazer of Danielson, Lisa Surprenant and her husband Robert of Danielson, Daniel Simonzi of Raynham, MA, and Susan Baranski of Webster, MA; 21 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son William J. Simonzi Jr. and her daughter, Shirley Blanchette.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Betty’s family from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Monday, July 13, 2009 in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam, CT. A gathering will begin at 9:00 am on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Mary Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence St., Putnam. Burial to follow in St. Mary Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in Betty’s name to St. Mary Church, 218 Providence St., Putnam, CT 06260 or to the charity of ones choice.
