Putnam – Alice St. Onge, 71, of East Putnam Rd, died Tuesday, October 2, 2012 in St.FrancisHospital in Hartford. She was the loving wife of the late Robert R. St. Onge. Born in Haure de Grace, MD, she was the daughter of the late Vesta (Baldwin) Gibson and Russell Gibson.
Alice worked for American Optical. She was also a bookkeeper for EasternConnecticutParentChildrenResourceCenter, and a cleaner at the Children’s Center in Woodstock. Alice volunteered at Project Northeast and at Adoration Chapel at St. Mary. She enjoyed baking, playing cards, and “donating” her money to Foxwoods.
Alice is survived by her daughter Claudette Stockwell and her husband David of Woodstock; and her granddaughter Lillian Mae Mandeville.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Alice’s family from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, Monday, October 8, 2012 in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St, Putnam, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 am in St. Mary Church, 230 Providence St, Putnam, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the college education fund that Alice’s late husband Bob set up for their granddaughter, Lillian, before his death.
