Adelard “Del” LaFleur
1925 – 2009

North Grosvenordale – Adelard LaFleur, 84, of Buckley Hill Road, died Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at his home. He was the loving husband of the late Doris (LeBoeuf) LaFleur. Born in North Grosvenordale, he was the son of the late Felix and Leda (Martel) LaFleur.

Mr. LaFleur received the distinguished Purple Heart Metal while serving as a veteran of the United States Army in WWII. He retired from the Connecticut Department of Transportation and previously worked for the Rogers Corporation.

Del was the oldest active member of the Valley Springs Sportsman Club. He was also a member of the VFW Post 10088 and a past member of the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived his daughter, Pauline Marzec and her husband Fred of Griswold; his son, Albert LaFleur and his wife Gail of Quinebaug; his brother, William G. LaFleur of Plainfield; his sister, Theresa Rice of North Grosvenordale; his grandchildren Andrea Dameron, Melissa Smey, Andrew LaFleur, and Matthew LaFleur; his great grandchildren, Jacob, Noah, and Sydney Dameron, Tyler and Gabrielle Smey.

He is predeceased by his brothers, Armand, Leo, Alcide and Wilfred LaFleur; and his sister, Adrienne Cardinal.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Del’s family from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Thursday, January 21, 2010, in the Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., N. Grosvenordale CT. A gathering will begin at 9:00 am Friday, January 22, 2010 in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Joseph Church, 20 Main St., N. Grosvenordale. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to St Joseph’s Church, 20 Main St., N. Grosvenordale or do a random act of kindness in his memory.
