N. Grosvenordale – Joseph “Larry” Choiniere, 91, of Pasay Rd, died Wednesday, February 8, 2012 in Day Kimball Hospital. He was the loving husband of the late Marcella (Coderre) Choiniere. Born in Grosvenordale, he was the son of the late Joseph and Clarinda (Champagne) Choiniere.
Mr. Choiniere was a radio operator during WWII for the Merchant Marines. He became a tool and die maker and over the years worked at Rogers Corp., American Optical, and retired from the Whitcraft Group in 1982. He was a member of the Putnam Elks, and the Quinnatesset Country Club. He enjoyed camping, hiking and golfing. He was a genealogy buff and belonged to the American French Genealogical Society in Woonsocket, RI.
Joseph is survived by daughter, Michele Sevigny of Branford, CT; his grandchildren, Laura of Ansonia, CT, and Justin of Webster, MA; his great-grandchildren Christopher and Lilly; and his longtime companion, Josette Banks of Brockton, MA.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Joseph’s family from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, Sunday, February 12, 2012 in the Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., N. Grosvenordale CT. A gathering will begin at 9:00 am on Monday, February 13, 2012, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Joseph Church, 20 Main St., N. Grosvenordale.
