Norton, MA – Chester T. “Chet” Chwalek, 68 of 91 Codding Road, formerly of Pomfret Center, CT and Thompson, CT died Friday, November 11, 2011 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the loving husband of Louise (Beaudry) Chwalek for 43 years. Born in Putnam, CT, he was the son of the late John and Bertha (Modliszewski) Chwalek.
Mr. Chwalek was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the ATW Companies in Warwick, RI retiring in 2008. He was still actively serving on the Board of Directors. He served in the Army National Guard from 1968 to 1974.
Chet enjoyed being outdoors, photography and, most importantly, spending time with his family. He also enjoyed following the Red Sox, Patriots, and UConn Huskies.
In addition to his wife Louise, he is survived by his two children; David Chwalek of Sudbury, MA and Karen Burg and her husband Scott of Norwood, MA; his sister, Carolyn Molinaro of Bristol, CT and four grandchildren, Landon, Ava, Luke, and Travis. He was predeceased by his brother John in 1998. Chet also leaves brother and sister-in-laws and nieces and nephews who were very dear to him.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Chet’s family from 10:00 to 11:30 am Friday, November 18, 2011 in the Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., N. Grosvenordale, CT followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 pm in St. Joseph Church, 18 Main St., N. Grosvenordale, CT. A private burial will be held at St. Mary Cemetery in Foxboro, MA at the convenience of the family.
