South Woodstock, CT- Jean (Cady) Roy died peacefully at home on Sunday, August 28, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. She leaves her husband of 58 years, James L. Roy. She was the daughter of the late Eugene and Regina (Gagne) Cayer.

Jean worked at Linemaster Switch and worked for many local families as a housekeeper. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her family and vacationing in Maine.

In addition to her husband James she leaves behind one daughter, Deborah Lucier and her husband Gary of Putnam; two sons, Richard Roy and his wife Marjorie of Woodstock, Michael Roy of Camden, ME; and one daughter-in-law, Jill Delano of Camden, ME; two sisters, Beatrice Sumner of Pomfret, and Barbara McDuffie of Putnam; six grandchildren, Jonathan Roy and wife Melissa, Kyle Lucier and wife Sarah, Jennifer Kindle and husband Paul, Ryan Lucier, Avery and Eliza Roy; five great grandchildren, Ezra, Dathan, Evan, Addison and Kiely. Jean was predeceased by four brothers, Arthur Cady, Lewis Cady, George Cayer, and Norman Cady; and two sisters, Florence Adams and Blanche Defocy. Walter H. Edwards

Putnam – Walter H. Edwards, 63, passed from this earth into the loving arms of God, Saturday, August 20, 2011…peacefully. He was the husband of holly edwards. Although together over 9 years, they were married May 21, 2011.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his parents, Francis Howard Edwards and Pauline Edwards; his daughter, Heidi Edwards-Brodack; his brothers, Wayne Edwards and his fiancé Denise, and Dennis Edwards; his sister Sherry Engh and her husband Peter; and his granddaughter Jordan LePage. He was predeceased by his brother, Dale Edwards.

Mr. Edwards was stationed in Germany as a medic with the Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as a self-employed landscaper and was a fan of NASCAR, and of the Boston Red Sox. He enjoyed his days spent with holly in Plymouth, MA.

A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held in the East Woodstock Congregational Church, 220 Woodstock Road, East Woodstock, CT 06244 on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 11:00am in respect of the good man he was and a time for personal remembrances, and offerings of prayer. Jeannette M. Caisse
1940 – 2011

Dayville – Jeannette M. Caisse, 70, of Primrose Crossing, died Thursday, August 25, 2011 in Worcester surrounded by her loving family. Born in Putnam, CT she was the daughter of the late Joseph Leo Nadeau and Rose Desrosiers.

Mrs. Caisse worked as a machine operator for Putnam Braid and later as a teacher’s aide at St. Mary’s School. She enjoyed classical music and reading. She was a member of the Daughter’s of Isabella as well as the American-French Genealogical Society. Her door was always open to lend her listening ear and to give advice. She was a great comfort to those who knew and loved her. She will be greatly missed.

Jeannette is survived by her sons Richard Caisse of Dayville, CT; David Caisse of Seekonk, MA, Derrick Caisse of Chaplin, CT; her daughter, Robin Carpenter of Plainfield, CT; her sisters Rosanne Robert of Iberville, P.Q. Canada, Lucienne Smith of Milford, CT, Yolande Lazarou of Dayville, CT, Anita Masi of Danielson, CT; and her eight grandchildren. Jeannette was predeceased by her sister, Irene Ethier.

Marie Lillibridge

Woodstock – Marie (Mathurin) Lillibridge has died at the age of 68 on August 22, 2011 at her home in Woodstock after a courageous battle with brain cancer. She was predeceased by her husband of 22 years, Robert Lillibridge. Born in Putnam, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Laurette (Phaneuf) Mathurin.

She worked for Smith Mechanical of Webster as a bookkeeper and was a long time employee of Rawley Plumbing in Putnam. Marie loved to travel all over the world with her husband Robert before his untimely death. She continued to travel with the Royal Travelers afterward and made many new friends. She loved to knit, play Bingo, and laugh with her many friends. Most of all she loved her cat “Coozie Marie.”

She leaves behind her sister and brother-in-law Juliette and Albert Bradley, brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Linda Lillibridge, Richard Lillibridge, Dennis Lillibridge; her nieces and nephews, Laurie and Jim Pinkston, Kevin and Laurie Bradley, Cathy Major and Anderson Hall, Lori Carter, Jason Lillibridge, William Lillibridge, Jr., Tammy Till, John Lillibridge Jr., and Nicole Lillibridge; and her great nieces and nephews, Jason, Josh, Chelsea, Kyle, Adam and Kyle. Marie was predeceased by her brother in-law, John Lillibridge.

Robert A. Lajeunesse

North Grosvenordale – Robert A. Lajeunesse, 90, Riverside Drive, died Sunday, August 21, 2011 in Regency Heights of Danielson. He was the loving husband of Betty Lajeunesse. Born in Burlington, VT, he was the son of the late Alcide and Donalda (Lavigne) Lajeunesse.

Mr. Lajeunesse worked as a foreman for Rison Mills. He was a member of the VFW in Putnam, the American Legion Post #67, and a charter member of the Valley Springs Sportsman’s Club.

In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by his son, Michael A. Lajeunesse of North Grosvenordale; his daughter, Ruth Simmons of Thompson; his brother, George Lajeunesse of Putnam; his grandchildren, Roxanne Rhault, Ron Rhault, and Val Haggerty; his great grandchildren, Patrick Haggerty, Montana Haggerty, Evan Rhault, and Drew Rhault.

Putnam – Rachel (Lafontaine) Power, 70, of Woodstock Ave., died Monday August 22, 2011 in Matulaitis Nursing Home. She was the loving wife of Joseph R. Power and the late Richard Rodio. Born in Thompson, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Anna (Martel) LaFontaine.

Mrs. Power worked as a certified nurse’s assistant for Matulaitis Nursing home and Community Health and Homecare. She retired in 1989 due to illness. She enjoyed her grandchildren and would say, “They were just what the doctor ordered!”

In addition to her husband, Rachel is survived by her daughter, Brenda Pontbriand and her husband David of Woodstock; her son, John Rodio of Woodstock; her sister, Ann Gendron of Danielson; her grandchildren, Rachel Pontbriand, Sophia Pontbriand, Autumn Rodio, Ke Mathew Sherman, Dustin Rodio, Richard Rodio, Delaney Power and Gracie Power; and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves her Himalayan Persian, Brutus, who stayed close to her and gave her comfort.

She was predeceased by her brother, Rene LaFontaine, her sister, Jane Caplette

Richard G. Green

Putnam – Richard G. Green, 66, of Mechanics Street, died Sunday, August 21, 2011 in Day Kimball Hospital. He was the loving husband of the late Paula L. Green. Born in Putnam, he was the son of the late Richard and Marjorie (Maloney) Green.

Mr. Green served his country in 1966 during the Vietnam Conflict. He was the first soldier from Putnam to be injured in this war. He worked a as a construction superintendant and a self-employed finish carpenter. He built many homes and commercial properties in the area. He enjoyed fishing, little league, boy scouts, football, canoeing, and cabinet making.

Richard was survived by his sons, Christopher Green and his wife Jennifer of Pomfret, and Keith Green and his wife Jane of Woodstock; his sister Judith Raymond of Putnam; his grandchildren, Emma, Benjamin, Tyler, and Judd Green; his cousin, Mindy Yeaw of Scituate, RI; his nice Rebekah Raymond of Woodstock; and his nephew Robert Raymond of Woodstock.

Putnam – Jane E. (Morgan) Fitzgerald, 52 of Rhode Island Line Road, passed away at home with her husband by her side on Saturday, August 20, 2011. She was married to Kevin Fitzgerald on November 11, 1989 in St. Francis Church in Winooski, VT. Born in Putnam, she was the daughter of the Frederick and Doris (Lavigne) Morgan of Putnam.

Jane worked for the Connecticut Department of Mental Retardation for 27 years retiring in 2004. She loved her work taking care of her clients where they would call her “Mama”. She was a graduate of St Mary School, Putnam High School, and Quinebaug Valley Community College. She also attended Rhode Island College. After she married Kevin, she enjoyed spending time in Vermont at the family farm and looked forward to the fair in Essex Junction. She also enjoyed playing computer games and making crafts, mostly macramé.

In addition to her husband and her parents, she is survived by her brother, Roland Morgan of Portsmouth, RI; her sister Ann McColgan and her husband George of North Woodstock; a niece; and two nephews.

Danielson – Evelyn “Nana” (Orszulak) Lime Frechette, 89, of Maple St., died Thursday, August 18, 2011 in Day Kimball Hospital. She was the loving wife of Leo P. Frechette and the late Arthur Lime, Sr. Born in Wauregan, CT she was the daughter of the late Michael and Nellie (Mahaj) Orszulak.

Mrs. Frechette worked as an assembler for Arrow-Heart Manufacturing and also worked as a seamstress. She was an avid UConn Woman’s Huskies fan and enjoyed visiting Mohegan Sun. She was a communicant of St. James Church where she taught CCD and enjoyed the parish Polkafest. She had also worked as a short order cook and waitress for Youngs Hotel in New Milford, CT where she served Marilyn Monroe, Durwood Kirby, Ed Sullivan and Totie Fields.

In addition to her husband, Evelyn is survived by her son, Arthur Lime, Jr. of South Carolina; her daughters, Carolyn House of Danielson, and Sharon Deno of Meriden; her sister Irene Ohop of Danielson; her grandchildren, Laurie Harris, Lynn Palmateer, Robert House, Keith House, Dawn House, Glenn House, Jason Soderberg, and Justin Soderberg; and many great grandchildren.

Putnam – Phyllis (Aldrich) Ruoppo, 72, of Fox Road, died Thursday, August 18, 2011, in Day Kimball Hospital. Born in Putnam, she was the daughter of the late Charles Wesley and Eva (Lamoureux) Aldrich.

Phyllis worked in the kitchen at Day Kimball Hospital and Hubbard Regional Hospital. She also worked for Rogers Corporation. She enjoyed knitting, reading, baking and cooking. She was famous for her lady finger cake, potato salad, and apple pie. She enjoyed spending time with her close friends Mary, Clair & Cheri.

Phyllis is survived by her sons, David Ruoppo and his wife Paula of Thompson, and Mark Ruoppo and his wife Stacey of Thompson; her daughters, Cindy Darnowski of Windham, and Angela Kowalczyk and her husband Geno of Danielson; her brother, William Aldrich of Torrington, CT; her sisters, Irene St. Jean of Palmer, MA, and Lena Larson of Leicester, MA; her grandchildren, Wes, Jack, Althea, John, Adam, Sammy, Megan, and Brendan; and her great grandchildren, Sydney, and Gabe.
