North Grosvenordale, CT – Agnes B. Knorr, 87 of Main Street died Saturday, May 28, 2011 in Putnam. She was the loving wife of Alfred Knorr for 66 years.
Born in New Bedford, MA, She was the daughter of the late Hormidas and Aurora (Hebert) Varieur.
Mrs. Knorr worked as an inspector for the Jacobs Rubber and for US Button Company. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son Maurice Knorr and his wife Janice of Danielson; her daughter, Diane Wagher and her husband Al of North Grosvenordale; her sister, Annette Navaro of Dayville; three grandchildren; five great grand children and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Norman Varieur and sisters Helen Clark and Jeanne Ricci.

Pomfret Center – Claire (Roy) Weiss, 99, formerly of Deerfield Road, died Tuesday, May 24, 2011 in UMass Memorial Healthcare. She was the loving wife of the late Isadore Weiss. Born in Taftville, CT, she was the daughter of the late Frederic and Helen (Shea) Roy.
Mrs. Weiss was a homemaker who liked to cook, dance, decorate her home, and make ceramics. She was a former President of the Emblem Club. Claire was a constant source of love and strength to her family until her final days.
Claire is survived by her sons, Robert Weiss and his wife Patricia of Waterford, and James Weiss and his wife Nancy of Pomfret; five grandchildren, Kevin Weiss and his wife Elizabeth, Cynthia Oltmanns and her husband Steven, David Weiss and his wife Sherrie, Hadley Rosen and her husband Todd and Chelsea Weiss; and seven great-grandchildren, Caroline, Emily, Victoria, Nicholas, Kyle Abigail and Kirsten. She was predeceased by her brother, Raymond Roy; and her sisters, Camilla Caisse, and Celeste Bucko.

N. Grosvenordale, CT – Matilda (Larose) Duchesne, 95, of Riverside Drive died Monday, May 23, 2011. She was the loving wife of the late Jean M. Duchesne. Born in N. Grosvenordale, CT, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Malvina (Boucher) Larose.
Mrs. Duchesne worked as an oiler for Risom Manufacturing Company, and the North Grosvenordale Mills. She was a communicant of Saint Joseph Church.
Matilda is survived by her sister, Yvonne Dion of Auburn, MA, a cousin and caregiver Connie Olmstead of Putnam, and several other relatives. She was predeceased by her brother, Omer Larose.

Brooklyn – Vincentina “Nancy” Wilbur, 96, of Canterbury Road, died Friday May 20, 2011 in Pierce Memorial Baptist Home. She was the loving wife of the late Home Weston Wilbur who died December 12, 2001. Born in North Grosvenordale, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Ella (Botto) Defilippo.
Mrs. Wilbur was a homemaker and enjoyed collecting dolls.
Vincentina is survived by 11 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren; her niece, Alice E. Daigle and her husband John of Haines City, FL; and her nephew, Robert Defilippo and his wife Carol of Ridge Manor, FL as well as several other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two sons, the late Roland and Donald Adams.

Danielson – Donna M. Tetreault, 50, of Water St., died Friday, May 20, 2011 in Regency Heights of Danielson after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Webster, MA, she was the daughter of Joseph Tetreault and his wife, Fran (Truppa) Tetreault; and Dorothy (Smick) Tetreault Kenyon and her husband, John Kenyon, all of Putnam.
In the past, Donna worked as an assembler for Bentley Shoe, as well as the Dempsey Center. She was a true Red Sox and NASCAR fan. Her favorite Red Sox player was David Ortiz (Big Papi) and her favorite Nascar Drivers are R. Gordon & J. Gordon. She also loved to play bingo and looked forward to her mother/daughter trips to Foxwoods every month.
In addition to her parents, Donna is survived by her son, Joseph Tetreault and his wife Diana of Farmington, CT; her daughter, Tara Aiken of Grosvenordale; her three grandchildren, Caden, Jared and Oliver; her brother, Steven Tetreault and his wife Pat of Dayville; her two sisters, Diane Lefebvre and her husband Mark Sr. of Danielson, and Barbara Kenyon and her husband Shaun of Putnam; step-brother Shaun Kenyon of Putnam; her step-sisters, Jean Mayo of Paoli, Indiana, Kelly French and her husband Tim of Winslow, Maine, Debbie Kenyon of Salem, CT, Tracey Wissing and her husband David of Las Vegas, Nevada; her special niece, Jessica Lefebvre with whom she made her home with; her adopted nephew Willis Maynard III; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and her extended family at George’s Galley of Danielson: Uncle Butch, Aunt Holly, Brenda, Denny, Gail, Kathy, and Matt. Putnam – Steve Bousquet, 64, passed away on May 17, 2011 at Mass General Hospital following a short, but courageous battle with multiple myeloma. Steve was born in Putnam on June 23, 1946, the son of the late Gerard and Myrtle Bousquet. He graduated from Putnam High School in 1964 where he was a four-sport athlete. He graduated from UConn with a degree in Political Science and Economics in 1970.
Following graduation, Steve taught for a short period at St. James School in Danielson. He served in the CT National Guard. In 1975, Steve established Bousquet’s Appliance and TV store with locations initially in Putnam, and later in Danielson. Steve successfully operated this business for over 35 years and had a significant impact on local communities. He was a member of the Snake Meadow Fishing and Hunting Club, Valley Springs Sportsman’s Club, the Putnam Elks, the Downtown Danielson Business Association, and the Northeastern Connecticut Chamber of Commerce. He served as an Alderman for the Town of Putnam, and was a current member of the Putnam Recreation Commission. Steve was generous and kind, always willing to help someone in need. He was a philanthropist, well known for his support of local causes, some of which included St. Mary’s Church, Troop D in Danielson, the Congregational Church of Putnam, the local woman’s shelter, St. James, QVCC, and Day Kimball Hospital Golf Tournaments, the Senior Center in Danielson, and raised money for the earthquake victims in Haiti. In 2010, Steve received the “Paul Harris Distinguished Citizen of the Year” award from the Rotary Club. He was also recognized as the “Northeast CT Humanitarian of the Year” by the Chamber of Commerce, “2010 Citizen of the Year” by the Putnam Grange, among many other community service awards including the Lions Club from both Putnam and Danielson. He made our community a better place.
Throughout his life, Steve enjoyed many outdoor activities, including fishing, hunting, gardening, and time spent on Quaddick Lake. He loved nature, especially the spring when he would spend countless hours planting flowers. One of Steve’s favorite pastimes was co-hosting the “Remember When” segment on WINY Radio on Friday mornings. He also loved his annual fishing trips to New York for salmon as well as occasional trips to Saratoga, and the Kentucky Derby. Throughout the years, Steve enjoyed many vacations with his family, whom he loved dearly.
Steve is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Kay, and his two children Jennifer Weeks and her husband Matthew of Burlington, CT, and Jeffrey Bousquet and his fiancé Kalin Borner, of Putnam. In addition to his wife and children, Steve is survived by his sister Geraldine Tetreault of Fort Myers, FL; his brother, Michael and his wife Judy of New Bedford, NH; and his brother David and his wife Tina of Brooklyn, CT; his sister in- law Sue Gardner and her husband William of Columbia, CT, and his sister in-law Ruth Lee and her husband Wallace of Newtown, CT. Steve has numerous nieces and nephews, and countless friends who will remember him forever.

Putnam – Paula (Pawlowski) Green, 63, of Mechanics St., died Monday, May 16, 2011 in Oakwood Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Webster with her sons by her side. She was the loving wife of Richard G. Green whom she married in 1966. Born in New London, CT, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Dorothy (Banas) Pawlowski.
Mrs. Green worked as an office manager for local doctor’s offices as well as a branch manager at Jewett City Savings Bank for 15 years. She loved animals and was always looking to find homes for them. She loved reading, camping, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Besides her husband, Paula is survived by her sons, Christopher Green and his wife Jennifer of Pomfret, Keith Green and his wife Jane of Woodstock; her grandchildren, Emma, Benjamin, Tyler, and Judd Green; her cousin Paul Banas and his wife Jasmin Kim of San Francisco, CA; and her sister in-law Judith Raymond of Putnam.

Putnam – Gertrude (Charron) Blanchette, 92, formally of Van Den Noort Street, died Monday, May 9, 2011 in UMass Memorial Healthcare. She was the loving wife of the late Gerard J. Blanchette. Born in Putnam, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Noelia (Girouard) Charron.
Mrs. Blanchette worked as a winder and inspector for Belding Hemingway in Putnam until her retirement in 1981.
Mrs. Blanchette was a communicant of St. Mary Church of the Visitation, and a member of the Ladies of St. Anne of N. Grosvenordale, and the Putnam Senior Center.
Gertrude is survived by her brother Richard Charron Sr. of Quinebaug, CT; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Lillian Sinehak, Doris Cunha and Irene Pepin.
