Putnam – Louis E. Molinaro, 91, of Flagg Street, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Wednesday December 22, 2010. Born in Putnam, he was the son of the late Samuel and Mary (Granata) Molinaro.
Mr. Molinaro graduated at the age of 16 in 1935 from Tourtellotte High School as the Solitarian. He played 3 years of semi-professional football and won a full scholarship to Worcester Polytechnical Institute but was unable to attend because he had to go to work to support his family. He was a World War II U.S. Army Sergeant who participated in the D-Day invasion of Normandy, France; the Battle of the Bulge; and the liberation of France. He was Postmaster of the North Grosvenor Dale Post Office for 26 years and very active in civil and community activities. He served as Commander of the American Legion Post 67 as well as State Commander, and was a Charter Member of the Thompson Lions Club. He was an active communicant of St. Joseph Church where he served as a parish trustee and lector.
He is predeceased by his wife, Rachel (Joly) Molinaro, and sons Buster, James and Michael. He is survived by his daughter Kathy Bell and her husband John Bell of North Grosvenordale; six grandchildren, including Tracie Molinaro, Jill Silvestri Molinaro and her husband Joseph, Beth Palladino and her husband Todd, Kim Molinaro, Louis Bell and his wife Erica, John Bell, Jr. and his wife Alicia; seven great grandchildren, Hannah, Benjamin, Jamie, Jessica, Sophia, Charlie and Brendan; longtime companion Gloria McColloch; and his daughter in-laws, Diane Thayer, and Carolyn Molinaro.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Louis’ family from 10:00 to 11:00 am, TUESDAY, DECEMBER 28, 2010 in the Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., N. Grosvenordale CT followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am in St. Joseph Church, 20 Main St., N. Grosvenordale. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. N. Grosvenordale – Robert E. LaRochelle, 70 of Faucher St, died unexpectedly Monday December 13, 2010 at home. Born in Putnam, he was the son of the late Elephege and Viola (Mathurin) LaRochelle
After graduating from Putnam High School, Mr. LaRochelle worked for the former Sanitary Dash Company for over 40 years. He had also worked for Staples. He was an active member of St Joseph’s Church where he sang in the choir, and volunteered for the food pantry and the bingo. He was currently serving as president for the Thompson Senior Citizens Association and was a member of the American Legion Post 67. For many years, he belonged to the bowling league at the Friendly Bowl in Danielson. He loved horses and enjoyed decorating for Christmas.
Bob is survived by his son, John LaRochelle of N. Grosvenordale; his two sisters, Jeannette Charland of Woodstock and Rita Watts of Frederick, MD; two grandchildren, Robin LaRochelle and Sara LaRochelle; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Elephege LaRochelle and Theresa Geer.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Bob’s family from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, Thursday, December 16, 2010 in the Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., N. Grosvenordale CT. A gathering will begin Friday December 17, 2010 at 12:00 noon in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 pm in St. Joseph Church, 20 Main St., N. Grosvenordale. Grosvenordale – Theresa (Comeau) Bonczek, 101, of Matulaitis Nursing Home, formerly of Riverside Drive, died Tuesday, December 7, 2010 in Day Kimball Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Victor Bonczek who died in December 1982. Born in North Grosvenordale, she was the daughter of the late Desire and Mary (Havey) Comeau.
Mrs. Bonczek worked as a weaver for the former Cluett Peabody. She had also worked for the former W.T. Grant Co.
Mrs. Bonczek was a member of the Thompson Senior Citizens, Charter Member of Fr. Mathieu Circle of the Daughters of Isabella, a Charter Member of the Ladies of St. Anne, St. Jean Baptiste, Interfaith Stitchers, and was a communicant of Saint Joseph Church in North Grosvenordale.
Theresa is survived by her daughter Clarice Guillot and her husband Paul of Grosvenordale; her son, Ronald Bonczek and his wife Virginia of Columbia, TN; four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
