Putnam – Rita M. LaBonte, 73 of Sabin St. died Saturday October 30, 2010 in Day Kimball Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Henry W. “Hank” LaBonte, Sr. Born in Flint, MI. She was the daughter of the late Remus and Elisabeth (Langer) Rein.
Mrs. LaBonte was an administrative assistant for Day Kimball Hospital. She was a graduate of Texas Lutheran College that was founded by her grandfather and a member of Our Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church where she sang in the church choir. She enjoyed listening to music, sewing, painting, and restoring antique furniture.
She is survived by two sons, David LaBonte and Donald LaBonte both of Brewster, MA; two daughters, LuAnn Norris of Lakeview, IA and Elizabeth Trudeau of Wiscasset, ME; a brother, Victor Rein of Tigard, OR; a sister, Lyn Boetcher of Graham, WA, twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Henry LaBonte, Jr. who died in 1992.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Rita’s family from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, on Tuesday November 2, 2010, in Our Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church, 54 Cedar Swamp Rd, Smithfield, RI with a Funeral Service at 10:30 am in the church. Dayville – Henry S. Benoit, 81, of North Road, died Monday, October 25, 2010 at Matulaitis Nursing Home. He was the loving husband of Dorothy (Long) Benoit. Born in Putnam, he was the son of the late Eusebe and Marie (Palady) Benoit.
Mr. Benoit served the United States Army during the Korean War where he trained as a paratrooper. He worked as a well driller for LaFramboise Well Drilling for 45 years retiring in 2008. Henry felt great loss when his son Stephen died unexpectedly in 1979.
In addition to his wife, Henry is survived by his daughters, Darlene Barber of Dayville, and Danielle Ennis of E. Killingly; his sister June Bubb of Florida, 8 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his son, Stephen Benoit in 1979; four brothers, Leodore Benoit, Rene Benoit, Albert Benoit and Arthur Benoit; and three sisters, Theresa Bernard, Mary Perelli and Helen Mayo.

North Grosvenordale – Martha Irene Chandler Adams Lewis, 74, left this world on Monday, October 18, 2010 to be with our Lord. She was the daughter of the late Frederick and Inez Chandler of North Grosvenordale.
Mrs. Lewis leaves her second husband of three years, Arthur G. Lewis of Woodstock; her daughter, Donna (Adams) Holder and her husband Wallace of North Grosvenordale; her son, Rev. Brian Adams and his wife Melvina of Dayville; her three grandchildren, Justine Holder, Julian and her husband Jerry of North Grosvenordale, Jessica (Holder) Demers of Danielson, and Jacqueline (Holder) Yargeau and her husband Peter of North Grosvenordale; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Martha was a cat lover. She couldn’t hear of a homeless cat. She leaves behind five fur people and once started and ran “Paws Reaching Out.” She was very talented in many types of crafts. She worked on and off several years ago for Colts Plastic. Martha was proud of her roots and truly loved her parents.
She was the loving wife of the late Donald J. Adams, Jr. for 44 years. She was the mother of the late Wesley Adams of Dudley, MA.

Brooklyn – Shawn Robert Reddy, beloved son of Robert and Theresa Reddy of Putnam, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday surrounded by his loving and devoted family and caregivers.
Born in Reading, PA Shawn moved to Putnam in 1963 and attended area schools. He graduated with a degree in Social Work from Eastern CT. State College. He worked for White Mountain Mental Health Services in New Hampshire.
He was a proud and loving father to Logan, of Norfolk, Virginia and a wonderful brother to his sisters, Roberta Reddy of Brooklyn, Maureen Landry of Putnam, and Terry Reddy of Webster, MA. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Patrick and Kevin.
Shawn was a blessed inspiration to those who had the privilege of knowing him. He had an amazing sense of humor and outlook on life. He was an avid sportsman and nothing surpassed his love and respect for nature and the outdoors.
The family sincerely gives their deep-hearted thank you to all who helped to care for him so that he could live his life in his home.
His life will be celebrated with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence St., Putnam on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 11:00am with interment following in St. Mary Cemetery. Pomfret Center – Dennis W. “Deerslayer” Cox, 69, of Holmes Rd., died Monday, October 18, 2010, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the loving companion of Debi Thompson for 26 years. Born in Meriden, CT, he was the son of the late H.J. Dennis Cox and the late Katherine (Whalen) Cox-Amour.
In addition to his life partner, Dennis is survived by his daughters, Katherine Cox of Long Island, NY, Martha Dougherty of Enfield, CT, Kristyn Seabro of Cromwell, CT and Kelly Carabetta of Meriden, CT; his sister, Barbara Murphy of Old Lyme, CT; several grandchildren; and three nieces.
Mr. Cox worked as the Chief of Engineering for the Department of Children and Families for the State of Connecticut for the 38 years, retiring in 1996.
Mr. Cox was an avid white tail deer hunter who also enjoyed horseback riding, cowboy action shooting, fishing, and pen and ink drawing and being outdoors in the woods experiencing nature. He was a life member of the Single Action Shooting Society, the North American Hunting Club, the Windham Land Trust, the Ellington Chapter of the Harley Owners Group, and the Putnam American Legion. He was also a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, the Bay State Trail Riders Association, the Paso Fino Horse Association, the German Shepherd Dog Club of America, and the National Rifle Association.

Putnam, CT – Anna Jane Jankot, 89, formerly of Sabin Street, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2010. She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years Joseph Jankot. Anna was born in Webster, MA to the late Thaddeus and Mary (Niemiec) Przybylek.
Ann was proud of her 25-year career as a nurse in the operating room at Day Kimball Hospital. Joe got her interested in golf. Golf and bowling were lifelong interests.
She is survived by her sons Alan Jankot and his wife Pamela, Jeffrey Jankot and his wife Deborah Crane. Grand daughter Tanya Jankot-Ma and her husband Jeff Ma, great-grand daughter Abigail Ma , grand daughter Amee VanNorman and her husband Jason VanNorman ,grand daughter Julia Jankot and grandson Joshua Jankot and her special friend Sheila Jankot.
At Ann’s request, there will be no calling hours and burial will be private at St. Mary Cemetery in Putnam at the convenience of the family.
